At Soul Practice Group, our mission is to create a compassionate and judgment-free space for individuals navigating mental health challenges, life transitions, and personal growth. Founded by Karla Gomez, we believe that mental health services should be accessible, non-intimidating, and rooted in transparency. Through individual psychotherapy, coaching for emerging associate therapists entering the field of mental health, and empowerment for schools and senior living communities, we are dedicated to supporting our clients on their journeys towards wellness and personal fulfillment.
Hi there,
I'm karla Gomez, License number: LCSW126082. Embarking on the therapy process requires strength and courage, and I invite you to join me on this journey of self-discovery and healing. I strive to create a nonjudgmental and safe environment, viewing therapy as a valuable opportunity for personal growth. With over six years of experience working with clients across the lifespan, I am committed to helping you blossom into your authentic self. My areas of focus are anxiety, life transitions, self-esteem, Co-Dependency, Depression, and Trauma.
My approach
The overall goal of therapy is to help my clients overcome challenging life stages and trauma in their life using psychoanalytic modalities and a holistic approach. Other theoretical approaches I use to support my client's treatment derive from Gestalt, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and somatic techniques.
My Focus
I work with adults age ranges (22-40) and teens (13-17). I am most comfortable treating the following conditions: Anxiety Disorders, Trauma, Depression, and Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD).
My Communication Style
I understand that every person is unique and that is why I collaborate with my clients to create strategies that support their values, personalities, and goals in treatment. I strive to create a supportive environment for clients by creating a space that is nonjudgmental and safe. I view therapy as a process of self-discovery and encourage my clients to engage in self-reflection of the therapeutic process, by encouraging feedback of the effectiveness of the use of strategies in session. It is important for me as a therapist for my clients to feel validated and understood each session; as such, I encourage clients to have transparent dialogues about their needs and empower them to express ways I can better support them through their healing journey. This often improves the therapeutic relationship.
My motivation to become a clinical social worker stemmed from a desire to create change at the policy level, particularly regarding mental health awareness in underserved communities. Growing up, I faced many challenges and access to mental health or any kind of support was limited; I often wonder how much easier my teen and young adulthood years would have been if I had access to a therapist. However, through my fieldwork, I discovered that the most significant impact occurs at the individual level. Addressing personal traumas and challenges can lead to broader community transformation, a snowfall effect if you will! I firmly believe that individual healing fosters greater awareness within communities, promoting healthier relational dynamics and encouraging individuals to focus on the present rather than being preoccupied with the past or future.
